|26 June 2020 – DAY 86|
|TOTAL SERVED TO DATE||29,101|
We now have a plan in place for our operations after Sunday 5 July. For the remainder of July we will do evening walks Mon, Wed and Fridays and breakfasts as usual on Tue, Thu and Saturdays. So on the streets 6 days a week. The items we carry will change a bit: tea/coffee/soup, water, underwear, socks and potentially other light items like survival sleeping bags. The minimum team sign up for an area go to ahead; 1 team leader + 1 experienced skywalker + 1 skywalker. However as usual teams can have up to 5 walkers. The booking system will continue be the way to sign up. A big difference is we won’t be chasing for sign ups. If a team has not reached minimum sign up by 2pm the team walk will be cancelled. Team safety is always first priority.
Big shout out to a special young man Jack Tafler (son Peter T) who has been a skywalker ever since he was a boy. Saturday morning at 4.30am Jack and 3 friends started “the longest day of golf” to fund raise for UNICEF, The Alzheimer’s Society, Black Lives Matter and UOS. They ended up playing for 17 hours and 23 minutes and completed 101 holes. That is one heck of an effort and achievement. Awesome work by Jack and his friends…once again youth is showing the way forward. So far they have raised close to £6000. You can check their campaign here.
Once again fist bump of respect to Koba, Brian and his twins who served our homeless friends on a day when Victoria had been cancelled. So important to live up the emotional contract with have with our homeless friends. Franc took some cracking photos of the youngest skywalkers of this emergency initiative. Check the video below for words of wisdom.
