This was by far our biggest day since we started this initiative with 559 served. More new faces continue to appear. Soho/Embankment was heaving.

We’ve had some fantastic news from Sara V who is talking to Tesco’s about sourcing mobile phones and credits. As well know they are in great demand all the time and can be a real game changer for people. Lets just call Sara, The Source or The Sourcerer from now on…2 pallets of water, 1500 tubes of toothpaste and now hopefully mobiles (it looks promising)

In the 8 years Under One Sky has existed we have never had to call an ambulance to any of the 4,000 people we have serviced. But during our 11,000 engagements with homeless people in the last 6 weeks we have had to call our emergency services several times. Both for people showing suicidal tendencies or who are outright threatening to commit suicide. And this it is people who have open infected sores and other physical health issues.

This story from Hester in the Victoria team last night is a case in point:

Also saw Travis tonight who last week we put in an ambulance with an infected leg. His leg is now bandaged up and the hospital have told him his infection rate is “normal” so he doesn’t need to be in hospital any longer. However he said that today he had 100 maggots in his leg… really really grim news. Not sure what more we can do if the hospital have told him to go? Felt very desperate…

For Monday 18th will still need the following roles filled:
Embankment: 1 team leader + 2 experienced Skywalkers (min 3 events completed)
Soho: 1 experienced Skywalker
Waterloo: 2 experienced Skywalkers
