Food Emergency Initiative – Packing Instructions

General Overview

  • Each day the packer will prepare top-up supplies for each team:
    o Team report back on left-overs after an event
    o Mikkel calculates the allocations for next day and sends packing list to packers
    o Packer follows list and completes top-up supplies for the day
  • Responsibility of packers:
    o Pack the supplies for the daily event for each team
    o Ensure each team gets correct supplies
    o Instruct the driver on supplies for drop-off points (Waterloo and Victoria)
    o Organise and tidy up the storage space
    o Stock count
    o Daily reporting of packing activities
  • Place and Time: o Punjab, 80 Neal Street, WC2H 9PA (left side of restaurant)
    o The packing should be completed by 5.45pm. Suggested start time 4.30pm in the first weeks.
    o The meals are ready at 6pm. If other supplies are ready for the teams by 5.45pm they will be able to set off shortly after 6pm.

End to End Packing Process

  1. Start out by putting on your mask and gloves (located in stock room)
  2. Create 4 area sheets –write the name of each are on four A4 page and place them on the floor by the long table with the white table cloth.
  3. Place a green tray next to each area sheet (2 trays for Embankment/Soho area) [see next page]
  4. Pull up the packing list on your mobile
  5. Acquaint yourself with location of each item that needs packing
  6. Start packing either item by item or area by area following the figures on the packing list
  7. As you complete an item for an area – tick that off in the packing list
  8. Coffee/tea kits are in a green tray on the black table. You need to refill this tray when it runs empty.
  9. Sandwiches arrive appx 5.20pm in black bin bags and are labelled with area name. No need to open the bags. Simple place with rest of area supplies.
  10. Count the waters for each team and place on the long table by each area’s tray
  11. Move supplies including water for each area outside of the restaurant and place against the wall with area sheet (A4) visible.
  12. Now the Embankment/Soho and Tottenham Ct Road/Kings Cross teams can start packing their supplies. They already have bags but there are some spare bags in the stock room.
    o If either team requests additional supplies then provide them and make a note of item and quantity
