|14 June 2020 – DAY 74|
|TOTAL SERVED TO DATE||23,370|
Update on winding down plans. The operation at the level we know it will wind down on Sunday 5 July. The sandwich team, we have agreed, will roll off on 26 June as other commitments are getting in the way of keeping up 240 sandwiches and homemade cakes each day. We are currently working on a skeleton plan for post 5 July and assessing how feasible it is to run that. Will keep you in the loop as we get clarity. 4 July has long been the date communicated for re-opening of the hospitality sector. Our commitment from the start was to be a force in the field until the end of the lockdown.
Monique has just opened the schedule for bookings up to 28 June – the penultimate week at 100% activity. I can’t tell you how much it helps everyone involved in organising each day if you book early so we don’t have to scramble to get teams together on the afternoon of the event. The other factor now of course is to make sure you get those last special moments in with the friends you have found through this emergency initiative.
Today we had an amazing fund raising result. Jamie Whelan’s friend Ella Ringner runs clothing brand Yolke who did a charity sale with proceeds split evenly between Under One Sky and malaika (empowering girls in Congo). In just a few hours £3500 were raised for UOS…fantastic result!!!
Today’s contribution to the UOS playlist comes from Chris O: Sia – Elastic Heart. Keep the suggestions coming.
