Today’s update is all about the fluids.

Temperatures will be hovering around 30 degrees until Saturday. This spells danger the lives of our homeless friends. As reported last week…more lose their lives in the heat than in the cold. Brian W has sourced two pallets of 2 litre bottles. A pallet of water cans arrives on Weds. Amrit is lending us his van. I am awaiting details hiring 2 cargo bikes. Then we will do what we can on top of our normal activities. In fact Brian W and Rara P will already head down this afternoon to start handing out. We will also try to engage other charitable organisations doing food at Trafalgar Square.

Last night Anna S and Sam A launched their skywalker cocktail line. For background we discussed whether it was right for UOS to lend support to an initiative involving alcohol. The entire steering team felt it was justifiable given Anna and Sam’s motivation for doing this initiative and the fact that this is their professional field. They have launched two cocktails: Love (alcoholic) and Compassion (non-alcoholic) (Compassion). Anna and Sam ,who are both on furlough from their respective jobs in bar and pub management, decided to use their trade/craft to bring awareness to the specific issue of the “hospitality homeless”. They have both worked incredibly hard to pull this together at very short notice and are generating really strong media coverage today after breaking it with Evening Standard. They will hand deliver orders in London which is super cool and all proceeds goes to Under One Sky’s efforts to support the homeless.
