The increase in numbers at Waterloo/London Bridge is worrying… 90 yesterday and 95 the day before. Last night the team met 2 men who’d had hotel accommodation but was put back on the street on the 20th as funding had run out. They are finding it extremely difficult to be back on the streets. If any other team encounter friends who are now back on the street then make sure you flag it.
We now have 10 days left of this initiative and it would be a huge help if you could have a look at the open slots for that period and book yourself in if free. The last few weekends have been really difficult to crew up so hope we can make the weekend a bit easier.
It was another really hot day in the city. We had Julian and Paisley out on the cargo bikes today delivering water around town for several hours. The breakfast team where equipped with sun cream thanks to SunSense and The Melanoma Fund as well as delicious breakfast bags from Corrigan’s kitchen. The BBC also joined us to bring attention to what our homeless friends must endure on days like this.
At the end of our breakfast walk Jeff and I came across a sad sight…someone’s home half burned. Jeff met the man who used to live there earlier in the week…now he is gone. What happened we don’t know but on our walks we often hear about tents and sleeping bags being set alight.
