We’ve now been going for 77 days and some of you have been on this journey right from the early weeks. At the same time we have new volunteers having their first street walk each day. For the “old timers” please make sure you welcome the new walkers with empathy and patience and take the time to explain to them how the events run even if the rest to the team are seasoned walkers.
TSG is currently working on their winding down plan and might even have to give back their space at Public Hall sometime next week. The following is from Sam:
Hi All… Please can you all read this. We have received a huge amount of new clothing orders today, this is great, however as we are slowly preparing for the easing of lockdown, we think it would be best to not offer clothing anymore, but rather to only take urgent orders if specifically asked for clothing or if you see a very urgent case i.e. no shoes. We are seeing a lot of repeated orders across different teams from the same people, so I guess they realise how to play the system to get more. If you have any questions, please let us know.
One of the key recommendations in the survey we ran last week was to reduce the use of plastic at our events. As you might have noticed is the last 3 weeks we have shifted back to using CanO water as our water supplier as their cans are recyclable. We are also starting to pack the coffee/tea kits in paper bags. It might be a bit late in the game but these practices we can integrate for the future.
Today Brian W was featured on a BBC podcast about what happens next in the homelessness crisis as the hotels start taking their rooms back come July. Have a listen here.
We only have 1 person signed up for KINGS CROSS tomorrow and for Saturday we have ZERO sign ups for KX, so if you are free then please join up.
